Citizenship practice test

This practice test has 20 multiple-choice questions, a 45-minute limit and a pass mark of 15 correct answers: 20 questions drawn at random from a bank of 200+ original questions, with explanations after every attempt. The official test uses the same question format and pass mark with a 30-minute limit — this practice version gives extra time for study.

Practice only. These questions were written from the topics of the official Discover Canada study guide. They are not real exam questions — the real questions are confidential — and passing here does not guarantee passing the official test. The real test is offered in English or French and is based entirely on Discover Canada, so study the guide itself, not just this test.

What the test covers

Rights and responsibilities, history, government and democracy, geography and regions, symbols and identity, economy and society, Indigenous peoples, and the people and culture of Canada — the same areas as the study guide. Official study guide: Discover Canada (canada.ca).

The test runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you answer is sent or saved anywhere. You can use your keyboard: Tab to move, arrow keys to choose an option, Enter to continue.

General information only — not legal advice. Question format and pass mark follow IRCC's published description of the citizenship test, checked 24 Oct 2026; the 45-minute limit applies to this practice version only. If IRCC changes the format, the official citizenship test page is the authority.
