Temporary Resident to Permanent Resident Pathway
This was a limited-time 2021 pathway for temporary residents already working in Canada and their families, with six streams: workers in health care, workers in essential non-health occupations, and recent international graduates from Canadian institutions, each in a general and a French-speaking version. The capped general streams filled in 2021 and the pathway then closed. Criteria below are historical, for reference.
Closed
Closed on November 5, 2021, and no replacement version was active in October 2026 (IRCC's program index lists it as Closed). People with a 2021 application still in process could apply for an open work permit under a related public policy until December 31, 2026.
