Former OINP business stream for experienced entrepreneurs who wanted to start a new business or buy an existing one in Ontario and actively manage it. Candidates were selected from an expression of interest pool and, after signing a performance agreement and establishing the business, could be nominated. The stream has not accepted new applications since its 2023 intake suspension and is not part of the redesigned program launched in 2026.
Closed
Closed earlier than the other streams: intake was suspended in December 2023 and Ontario announced the stream's wind-down in November 2024; the category was revoked in the 2026 regulatory changes. The official OINP main page now states the Ontario Workforce Priority stream has launched and all other streams are closed. A redesigned entrepreneur pathway has been signalled for phase 2 of the OINP rebuild but no criteria or launch date were published as of October 23, 2026.
